About Me

Hi! I’m Pixie the luckiest black cat you know! Nice to meet you! I am an adorable, all-American shorthair domestic black cat that is loved by her humans, cat sisters, and extended animal family very much. I believe in kindness, love, and great kitten treats!  Sometimes I don’t know which I love more: my cat food or the joy of being around the ones that I love. For now, it is a tie, and I certainly don’t have to choose. I feel fortunate and I think that that is why I am the luckiest black cat because I have all the true joys that life has to offer. I get to be loved and taken care of and I get to return that love and kindness back to others in my life. Isn’t it funny? A fortunate black cat! Who would have thought of it?

My Cat-urdays (outside of napping and sleeping) are spent making sure that my human family and cat sisters are happy and well taken care of. I do daily check-ins with my humans who tend to stare at bright rectangle boxes of various sizes way too much for my liking. If you ask me, I find the habit odd and the rectangle thingies rather weird. The biggest rectangle is in the center of the living room. It makes sounds and sometimes has images that move. There are times where I’ll look at it with my head titled trying to understand what the fascination is all about. It is certainly purr-plexing for sure! But I do see how much watching that thing makes them happy and keeps them calm like a good dose of catnip or a nibble of fancy feast, so I figure why not let them have it? I am a generous cat after all. So, I tend to allow for it when I am taking naps and busy tending my cat business and blogging endeavors. However, when I am not napping or blogging, I certainly remind them to have more fun with me! Petting me and giving me attention should be the best part of their Cat-urday! As for me, when I am relaxing for my viewing pleasure, I prefer to watch life roll by outside seeing nature and chatting with other neighborhood cats that stop by. We have a few in the neighborhood but there is one special one we call Jilli-Bee. She is a domestic short hair tabby like my sister Leah that stops by for treats every day. We talk to her, and she gives us the gossip and run down about what is happening in the neighborhood all the time. Her furry journeys are always awesome to hear about.

My cat sisters that live with me (we are indoor cats) are very active and most recently we have been acting more and more like a unit. In the past, we all had our issues. Leah, my litter sister, came with me to our fur-ever home and she never liked humans. We, my human family plus me, had to work hard together to get Leah to feel comfortable. After a few years it has gotten a lot better, but we are still working on it every day. She is beginning to swish and rub her tail on our human mom when fed her daily meals. It is certainly an improvement from when she used to hide under the couch all the time or run away as soon as a human walked into the room.

Then Star, our other cat sister who is a white cat of mysterious origins, had issues of a different kind that we had to help her with. Wait for it… wait for it… She didn’t like other cats! (GASP!) The level of kindness that we all had to give to Star to help her overcome that obstacle was at one point at an all-time high. I had to be ultra-patient with her which was not always easy. Star had bad reactions to seeing me or Leah. The level of hissing was just off the charts! Sure, she hurt my feelings a lot, but I never gave up on her. However, since Leah was initially excited for another cat to be inside the house to play with us, her feelings were just badly in a way that I just can’t describe. It took a lot for us to reasonably get along and we still work on it getting better every single day. Now a days instead of being trapped all day long inside of a bedroom, she is very active and roams freely with us around the house. She still prefers her space and doesn’t always want to play or groom with us, but I am just happy that she is more a part of the family than she has been before.

By blogging (with my human’s purr-mission of course!), I hope to one day end the misconceptions regarding proper pet and animal care and to also address the unkind mistaken beliefs about us black cats being bad luck. These terrible myths are not right and are simply not true. We are just like any other cats that you meet. Nothing to fear or avoid here! If you are curious, follow me for regular updates about my home life with my family and furry friends, awesome wellness and helpful hints, tips, and facts about pet care for your fur-babies.

You can send me a purr-sonal email message at pixiespetcorner@gmail.com. In the meantime, happy Cat-urday and promise me you’ll give a big hug to your furry best friend! Love, Pixie.

Until next time… Make everyday a Cat-tastic Cat-urday!

Adoption Day Part Two: The First Night Home

(Editor’s Note: FYI, please read “ Adoption Day: The Ride Home Part One ” if you haven’t had the chance to do so already. You can also check out Pixie and her sister’s adoption story here and note that we have a free checklist that covers Adoption Day: Part One & Two here .) Pixie here and I’d love to discuss with you the items and things you need for the first night home with your adorable fur-baby after adoption. To continue my furry story from where we left off in “ Adoption Day: The Ride Home Part One ,” once we finally got home and our cage doors were opened, I immediately got out seeking to be settled and cozy. Our fur-ever family made sure to have quite a few key items available to get us comfortable. Our fur-ever family made it super easy, and I had no problems bonding with my human family. Meanwhile Leah being a special case and very shy and reluctant around humans, she hid under any piece of furniture she could find and fit under. She kept on hiding during the d...

Adoption Day Part One: The Drive Home

Hey friends and family of the furry! It’s Pixie and I’m back again to talk to you about the first night after adoption and what you need to make your home a comfy fur-ever home! If you want to know more about my complete adoption story, you can find it here ! Adoption day was one of the best days for me and my sister Leah’s life even if we didn’t really realize it at the time. All we knew at the time when we were about 9 months old were the places we stayed temporarily and then the shelter. That was it! When they put the two of us in separate crates to be transported to our fur-ever homes with our fur-ever home families, we were in a panic! Although our fur-ever family was so nice and warm towards, it was only one visit before it was decided that we would leave with them and live with them permanently. On our adoption day, we were okay up until we left the building. We meowed once we got out of the door and yet kept going! We meowed all the way to our new home and Leah had spraye...
